Tight Wallet Tuesday: Sally Hansen Fuzzy coat

I was absolutely in love with Nails Inc London Feathers nail polish collection. But, I couldn’t gather myself to pay $9.50 per color although they were uber cute! For one I have tons of nail polish and two I would need all 4 shades! I couldn’t decide! So In other words I would be out of about $40 after taxes!

Image

But to my surprise Sally Hansen launched her identical nail polish top coats! Called Fuzzy Coat. She launched a total of 6 or 7 colors. I bought them on sale at Target for $4.50 each. Which means I got 3 for a little more than $13.00 with tax! Here is the 3 colors I bought!

So if you’re like me and have been loving the Nails Inc Feather collection look check out your local target or CVS and get your fuzzy coat by Sally Hansen. No more than $6 retail price! If you’re lucky you’ll catch a break like I did.

Tight Wallet Tuesday: L’oreal Colour Riche Le Balm SPF 15

One of my all time favorite lip balms is Fresh sugar lip treatment! I love it because it spreads like butter on the lips, it has a hint of color and best of all there is an SPF 15. Just like it is extremely important to have SPF to protect your face and body it is extremely important to have an SPF in your lip balm. Our lips are highly capable of getting sunburned as well as wind burned and to prevent this we must use an SPF on the lips!

Although the FRESH sugar lip treatments are amazing and come in approximately 8 different shades from nice nudes to bright corals they are a tiny bit pricey for 0.15 oz lip balm. They will run you approx $22.50 each one! That’s a little more than I’d like to pay for a lip balm, but I’ve done it and I do not regret it. But, when you’ve just paid your car payment and rent and other things and your pockets might not be able to splurge on that $23 lip balm I might have a pretty similar product for you!

ImageWhile at my favorite drugstore CVS I decided to purchase these L’oreal Colour Riche Balm SPF 15! I decided to try them because it was buy one get one 50% off and it had an SPF 15. My daughters lips tend to get pretty chapped and I figured these would be great for her! These Loreal lip balms are only $8. Just like the fresh sugar lip treatments they have approximately 6-8 colors and they are moisturizing with an SPF.

They definitely aren’t as soft and creamy as the fresh sugar lip treatments but they definitely do the job!

So if you are on a hunt for a lip balm with an SPF which you should be and $23 is way too pricey check these out at your local drugstore! Summers around the corner, protect yourself.

Moisture Monday: Garnier Skin Renew Daily Moisture Lotion (anti-sun damage)

So I finally transitioned to a new daily moisturizer. I was using Timeless Secret SPF 20 moisturizer it was my absolute fav daily moisturizer but it is now discontinued and no longer existent. I used the very last of my last bottle yesterday and this morning started using my Garnier Skin Renew Daily Moisture lotion. The reason this product caught my eye was on the box it mentions it has an SPF 28 and it was also anti aging helping with uneven skin tone, sun spots, and fine lines. If I can give you one tip in life it is that sunscreen is imperative in your daily skin care regimen! Plus it was only $12.00 at CVS.

Image

So before I go on to tell you a little more about this product I have to admit that this might be my new fav face sunscreen! For one it is an SPF 28 and since I am african american it is extremely difficult to find a sunscreen that does not leave a white streaky finish on my face and this product has no white streaks what so ev! And I am feeling moisturized without looking overly greasy! So far so good.

The good good about the product.

Tight Wallet Tuesday: Wet & Wild Megalast

ImageWatch out now MAC pro long wear lipsticks! Wet and Wild has just launched an amazing forever staying lipstick that seriously does not move! This is stuck to me like glue and I am loving it!

First of all this is a Tight Wallet tuesday because it is only $2.99! Yes I said $2.99! And if you go to CVS sometime this week you can catch the sale buy one get one 50% off ! So you get two colors for the price of $5 bucks! Sure does beat the MAC Prolong wear lipstick price of $23.00 a piece! You can pretty much buy the whole collection from wet & wild and it will still be less than one MAC prolong wear. The only con is there currently not a large selection of colors, maybe like 6 in total.

So I bought 2 lip colors these stood out to me the most, I wanted to give them a try before I went all out.

The pink is Back to the Fuchsia

The red is Red My Mind

These colors are super intense and dry matte. Here is a photo of me wearing “Red my Mind”

Such a really pretty true red! And the staying power I promise you  is unbelievable. I even tested it out on a napkin after letting it set! No lie, no transfer!

DAANG! That’s pretty amazing for $2.99! As always a long wear can be drying, just apply a chapstick or gloss on top when it feels a tad bit dry.

Wet & Wild if you come across this post, as a makeup artist and a product junkie consumer, This is Everything, you guys did good! Just launch more colors and I will be a happy camper!!

To my fellow Glam Gluttonies go to CVS now and treat yourself!

Manic Monday: Freeman Feeling Beautiful Purifying Clay Mask Acai

I’ve been gone for a while on an amazing birthday trip to New York but i’m back with another mask review. I figured while unpacking I could throw on a new mask and feed my skin some goodness. So that is exactly what I did. I came across this really inexpensive mask at CVS I believe it was only $3.99. I picked it up because I love Clay masks, I love the idea of them extracting dirt from the pores. And Secondly because it was Acai. We all know the acai is a wonderful antioxidant, and we all know antioxidants fight free radicals so this was a perfect combo for me!

Image

This mask is packed with natural ingredients and not only does it have Acai extract but it includes
Goji, Pomegranate, Mango, Mangosteen, Cranberry, Noni and Blueberry! The most high packed antioxidant fruits! This is just one amazing fruit basket for the face and it smells just as good too!

It’s main focus is to help with skin damage, soften and brighten the skin.

This can be used two times a week or as often as needed.

Very simple to use: Apply mask to face and neck avoiding the eye area. Let dry, and then rinse with warm water.

Below is a photo with the mask on. I love the consistency of this product it glides on smoothly for a clay mask . Sometimes with a clay mask it’s not as easy to maneuver on the skin this one slipped and slide.

Image

I wish there was a scratch and sniff feature, because this product smells like fresh fruit heaven.

Image

Here is my Before and After, you can see a little bit of an improvement in brightness. But I can definitely feel the softness of the skin a lot more. For $3.99 this product is totally worth it! It is also a really good mask if you are in a hurry and need a fresh face!

Until the next Manic Monday! Have a good week.

We Love Lashes Wednesday!- Covergirl Clump Crusher Review

There’s one thing in the world besides your eyebrows that you need to make any makeup look complete and that is LASHES! Falsies or Mascara, your choice but you must use! Lashes bring out the glam in all of us.

For this weeks WE LOVE LASHES Wednesday I chose to try one of the newest mascaras from Covergirl called the Clump Crusher. Every time I see the commercial on the TV I tell myself I gotta try that. It was even more beneficial for me to try it because this week CVS has a buy one get one 50% off deal on Covergirl cosmetics! So I picked up the Clump Crusher as well as my staple mascara which is the Covergirl Lashblast in the orange packaging.Image

The new Clump Crushers claim to fame is 0 clumps and 200% more volume! When trying this on myself I noticed that I really did not have any clumping. I applied two coats on the top and bottom lashes. Usually when using a mascara on my bottom lashes this is where i notice the most clumping. I have to say I did not get any clumping even with my second coat. The fine tooth comb like bristles on the brush evenly comb out the lashes and distribute the product evenly. I also like this mascara because it is water resistant. I am not a big fan of waterproof mascara because it is so difficult to take off the lashes and you end up pulling out your own lashes in order to remove product. Image

Considering we are supposed to change our mascara on a monthly basis, and have it for no more than 3 months I would definitely purchase this mascara again. It does what it says it’s going to do, it has multiple colors: brown, dark brown, black and very black. It volumizes the lashes and I can definitely vouch for the 0 clumps! It’s cost effective only $8.99 or if you find a good promotion you can get two for $12 and stock up for the next month! You can’t beat that.

Here are my lashes before the mascara.

Here are my lashes with the Very Black Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara

Image

I actually enjoy this mascara a lot! I tend to not get much volume with most mascaras and seeing the after picture the volume is definitely there! Thanks Covergirl for creating another awesome product that doesn’t break the pockets!

We Love Lashes Wednesday: Stay tuned for the next lash review.

Tight Wallet Tuesday: Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids

ImageWhile reading my Glamour magazine on the plane last weekend I came across this ad and was like “YES! I need this orangey coraly color and whatever other color it comes in!  Especially if the pigment is just like that!” I fell in love with an orange very similar to this in the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #12- Coral Incandescent described as a bright cajun coral. But, you know sometimes you can’t just dish out $34 on a lipstick! And yes the YSL lipsticks are worth every penny, but right now I probably should not be spending $34 on one lipstick! Especially because these new Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids run about $7-$8 per lipstick and that means you can get 5 for the price of one! And yes because I really wanted to try these I had my boyfriend take me to CVS right after we got off the plane. hahaha.

Immediately I found them and tried not to be excessive and limit myself to 3, but that never works. I left with 5!  I think there are eight in total so I am only missing 3. I got #860-pink pop, #870-shocking coral, #880-electric orange, #895-on fire red, and #905- brazen berry! Image

ImageFirst and foremost the bright orange translucent packaging is so eye catching you immediately take a double take! And then you see the colored stickers on the bottom, and you already think to yourself these are going to be gorge! Since I am all about sanitation and cleanliness I never swatch the colors on my hand at the store, because you would hate for someone to do that to your lipstick right? So I take a chance and buy them all! LOL. That’s just the gluttonous me talking.

So when I finally got home and had the chance to try them I was convinced that I needed the last three that I did not buy. The pigment on these lipsticks are wonderful even on a dark skin tone. They are extremely hydrating and creamy on the lips. And the best part of all they have longevity so you will not have to reapply that frequently.

Below are swatches of all 5 lipsticks that I purchased.

Top Left: #860- Pink Pop

Bottom Left: #870 Shocking Coral

Top Right: #880- Electric Orange

Middle Right: #895- On fire Red

Bottom Right: #905-Brazen Berry

If you have been dying to get some bright lipsticks and the $15-34 dollar lipstick is out of your price range, head to CVS or Walmart or target and find these! Sometimes our wallets are a little tighter than we want it to be! But we absolutely have to have a new lipstick. I promise these will make your day, and you’ll forget about that MAC lipstick you wanted for now and save $7 doing it!
